Conversion Rate Calculator

Conversion rate from orders and sessions, with the sessions-per-order view.

The definition

Conversion rate = conversions ÷ sessions. Forty-eight orders from 2,400 sessions is 2.0%. Ecommerce averages sit near 2–3%; top-quartile stores run 4%+, and a 1% lift on a 2% baseline is a 50% revenue increase at the same traffic.

Segment before you optimise

A blended rate hides everything. Split by device (mobile usually lower), channel (paid social lower than brand search), and new versus returning. Most stores find one segment dragging the average down by a full point.

What actually moves it

  • Page speed — every extra second costs roughly 7% of conversions
  • Shipping cost and delivery date shown early, not at checkout
  • Product photography and returns policy clarity
  • Checkout friction: guest checkout, fewer fields, wallet payments

Statistical honesty

Small samples mislead. A hundred sessions cannot distinguish 2% from 4%. Use the rate for direction and wait for a few hundred conversions before declaring a redesign a success.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is conversion rate orders or revenue?

This tool calculates order conversion; revenue per session is a different metric.

What is a good mobile conversion rate?

Roughly 60–70% of desktop is normal; closing that gap is usually the biggest available win.

Do returning visitors count?

Yes, unless you segment them out — they typically convert 2–3× better.
